How To Design A Browser Theme For Google Chrome

As a designer I want to have my hand in the way my computer looks.  From my pink netbook to the custom icon I use for my zip folders… and of course one of the items I used the most… my browser.

Check out how easy it is to make a Google Chrome theme.

Make any website a desktop aplication!

With Google Chrome you can set ANY website to become a desktop application.  Making a website a desktop application is helpful because it takes the website out of your browser so you can’t lose it in a sea of tabs and you get the added bonus of more space to see the site because you don’t see any of your tool bars from the browser.

I use this for my to-do list manager, my calendar and my gmail.  Set one up for yourself in three easy steps.

  1. Navigate Google Chrome to the site you want to ‘app-lify’.
  2. Click on the icon to the right of the url bar that looks like a page and choose the first option “Create Application Shortcuts”.
  3. You will then decide where you want the shortcut to placed either the desktop, as a quick launch icon and/or the start menu.

Ta-Da!!! You are done. Enjoy your new Apptastic shortcuts.
